What happened to Nikiha is every expectant mum’s nightmare. At only 25 weeks pregnant with her twins, Nikiha's waters broke. It was four in the morning in her home town of Chinchilla, and the survival of her babies depended on her travelling 300km to specialist care in Brisbane...
Thankfully a Flying Doctor aeromedical team was on standby to help turn the odds back in Nikiha’s favour. They managed to fly her quickly and safely to where she and her babies needed to be — Nikiha told us they made the whole thing look easy.
But there’s nothing routine about responding to prenatal emergencies like Nikiha’s. Keeping pregnant women and their unborn babies safe at 10,000 feet takes immense training and a vast array of specialised equipment, including advanced monitors that cost thousands of dollars each.
To help meet the cost of this training and equipment, the Flying Doctor is trying to raise $453,801 before Christmas. And to help us get there, we are asking the Queensland community to please rally together and make a festive donation today.
Thanks to people like you, Nikiha’s boys are safe and well and will soon enjoy a wonderful Christmas in the arms of their mother. Please will you help us spread more Christmas joy across Queensland with a donation today? Thank you so much for your help.
